J. Martin Excavating, Inc. - From The DIRT

For over 35 years, JME has been providing construction services for the Pittsburgh region that are safe, cost-effective, and quality-driven.

Jay Martin started JME in 1990 using only a case backhoe and a 10-ton dump truck. He performed small excavation and utility projects for the local Pittsburgh area, gaining knowledge and experience with each job. What began with Jay’s dream, a backhoe, and a dump truck, has grown over the last 35 years into a fleet of heavy equipment and expanded capabilities.

Under new leadership in Jay’s sons, Dylan and Zach, JME continues the same hard work and grit that inspired its inception while adapting to the ever-changing needs of the construction industry. While the company has grown and expanded its capabilities over the decades, Jay’s commitment to always provide quality services has never wavered. Those founding principles that Jay built the company on are still evident through the leadership and quality work that JME continues to perform today.

“As a small family-owned company, creating relationships and performing quality work is what keeps us in business. We must be adaptable as a company and always learning how to better serve our clients and the surrounding community.”

- Dylan Martin - Chief Estimator & Project Manager
