General Construction Foreman

JME is a commercial and residential construction contractor that performs sitework, utility, demolition, land stabilization, retaining wall and trucking services. Our shop and office are located in Plum Borough, but work is performed throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.

JME offers competitive wages, a good benefits package, and a family-like atmosphere. Wages start at $30.00/HR and increase depending on skills and experience. Healthcare benefits include medical, vision, and dental plans. Retirement benefits include a 401(k) plan with a company match. Bonuses are at the discretion of management and are awarded based on individual and company performance. Time off consists of poor working conditions, sick days, vacation days and holidays.

Primary Responsibilities:     

  • General Foreman

    • Preview the work before the start of each project and determine readiness of the team

    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all work needed for site operations. This includes coordinating with GC and other contractors that are on site

    • Schedule and manage personnel, equipment, and material needed for site operations

    • Setup and use GPS and lasers to perform work on site

    • Review plans and specifications for work to be performed

    • Resolve project complications and challenges

    • Operate equipment and labor to assist other trades as needed

    • Monitor daily production and track all labor and equipment time for site operations

    • Create and maintain a positive working environment focused on the team and the tasks at hand

    • Make sure all work is performed safely, on schedule, and on budget

    • Assist with estimating for future projects

  • Performs other tasks required by management 

Requirements:

  • Meets ALL company values

  • Clear and concise communication skills

  • 5+ years of experience in earthwork and underground utility construction

  • Valid driver’s license and has their own reliable mode of transportation

  • Can reliably and safely operate a company vehicle when needed

  • Able to give and follow directions for different construction tasks

  • Able to evaluate and comprehend different types of information such as documents, plans, pictures, etc.

  • Good competency of math, geometry, volumes, and weights

  • Able to read and comprehend plans and construction standards to perform work correctly and safely

  • Basic technology skills for use of different company software and hardware

  • Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when needed by management

  • Mobility – Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Also required to physically move light and heavy objects

  • Appropriate work clothing which includes safety boots, long pants, and other required clothing specific to each jobsite

    Working Conditions

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather which consists of cold, wet, hot and humid conditions

  • Other conditions include working around moving equipment, above or below ground level, around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or dangerous chemicals, vibration, loud working environments, and others
